Having different approaches in matrimonial property regimes in the Member States, the main goal of the new regulation is to unificate the rules of competent jurisdiction and applicable law in this matter.The regulation is in force since 28. July 2016 and is valid for marriages and civil unions celebrated from the 29th January 2019.
